Tasting Notes

Why Does My Rosin Taste Bad?

Did you buy a gram (from us or another brand) and it tastes wack? Good rosin should taste clean, flavorful, and true to the strain. If it tastes harsh, burnt, or dull, something’s off.

Here are the most common reasons:

1. You’re Dabbing Too Hot

This is the biggest one.

High temps burn off terpenes and leave a harsh taste. Keep in mind, different terps burn at different temps. There is no perfect, universal dabbing temperature.

Lower temps = better flavor. Experiment with lower temp settings to find the right one for that strain.

2. It Was Stored/Opened Wrong

Rosin doesn’t like heat, light, moisture or air.

If it’s been sitting out, the flavor can fade or change quickly.

And definitely DON’T crack the jar cold, it’ll attract moisture.

3. It’s Low Quality

Not all rosin is made the same.

Lower-quality product often tastes:

  • Flat

  • Slightly “planty”

  • Harsher overall

We’d like to think you wouldn’t get a jar that’s low quality from us, but if you ever think that’s the issue always reach out.

4. Your Rig or Nail Is Dirty

Old residue ruins fresh dabs.

If your setup isn’t clean, your rosin won’t taste right—no matter how good it is.

5. It’s Old or Dried Out

Rosin loses flavor over time, especially if not stored properly.

Dry or crumbly rosin usually means less terpene content and weaker taste.

(Don’t buy the store’s display gram and expect it to be wet and delicious!)

Bottom Line

If your rosin tastes bad, it’s usually:

  • Too hot

  • Stored wrong

  • Low quality

Fix those and the difference should be immediate.
